Doctoral Studies

Students who hold a Master’s degree in Chinese Studies are eligible to pursue a doctorate degree at the Institute of Chinese Studies at the University of Freiburg. Prof. Nicola Spakowski invites applications in the field of twentieth and twenty-first century China, in particular in the following areas:

Prof. Daniel Leese supervises MA theses and PhD dissertations in the field of Chinese history and politics, in particular in the following areas:

- CCP party history
- Maoism as ideology and social practice
- history of Chinese law
- history of the Qing dynasty
- environmental history
 

JunProf. Lena Henningsen invites applications in the field of Chinese culture in twentieth and twenty-first century China, in particular in the following areas:

- literature
- popular culture
- consumer culture
- music
